off for the last few months could it be the lower dose and the weaning off or the hormones themselves that are causing this her hair is brittle and dry too any info would be a great help as she is also suffering from night sweats and hot flashes during the day needless to say it is rather unpleasant around here(to say the least)Info for wife: hair thinning and loss on hrt for over 30yrs 2yrs ago went on lower dose of hrt trying to wean?
God I hate hormones. But yes the change in hormones can effect the hair. The other thing she may want the doctor to check is her thyroid levels. They have tendency to change during this time as well and can cause major hair loss and dry brittle hair.
I'm not sure why they are trying to wean her off the hormones just yet since it sounds like she is still in full swing?
As far as the night sweats, try wearing cotton night gown if she wears cloths to bed (preferably to wear nothing) and keep a fan blowing on her. This will allow her body to stay cool and able to be covered up.
Hot Flashes during the day. Avoid heavy clothing and when the hot flashes hit try to breath threw them (for some woman they are so intense they pass out) If she is a stay at home wife then find the cold wash rag and sit in front of the fan.
Moods= I PROMISE THEY WILL GET BETTER! While you may feel little hope right now, trust me it's harder on HER than YOU. Test the waters before speaking if she seems to be pleasant enough then approach if her mood changes in the middle of the conversation RUN LIKE MAD (LOL)! Give her space. Also, in the mean time tell her that you understand she is having a rough time and you will do everything possible to help or keep her comfortable, but she needs to control her rages (difficult, but can be done)
I hope this helps!
