Ive been hypothyroid now for over year taking thyroxine.......I got two different opinions from docs on my blood results though which concerned me.....I.e. who to trust doctor kicked up a fuss when I asked to be reffered to a dermatologist.....anyway one doc said I needed to increase my dose and that hair loss was caused by hypo now when i got home i saw that hair loss was only listed under hyer not hypo so I dont know If I should trust any of those doctors....

My hair is thinning on right side ..has anybody had this experience?

pls can u advise?Hypothyroidism / Hair loss thinning?
It can occur with hyper or hypo. When Hypothyroidism is first being treated with thyroxine, hair loss is common and should pass off once you're stabilised and your body gets used to it (anything up to a year). If it continues for a prolonged period or increases in amount being lost and you're concerned, then go back to your doctor and get a referral for your own peace of mind.Hypothyroidism / Hair loss thinning?
I have hypothyroidism to, and I take levoxyl it seems to work very well that is when I remember to take it on a regular basis. I have heard that hypo people can have hair loss on the right side of the body. my left eyebrow is thicker than the right, but I try to make it not noticeable. Also, I to have had problems with the 2 docs that moniter my thyroid. My recomedition would be to get a second opion on all medical things. sorrry I cant spell- thats just me. good luck! add me to your contacts. :)
Your hair can be thinned from either hypo or hyper, not just hyper. Don't worry about it. If you want it to stop thinning, I would suggest asking a dermatologist like your doctor said. Just say you have hypo/hyper thyroidism and you are losing hair and ask what you can do to help make your hair grow out.
