So I'm a 19 year old male with thinning hair, that tends to fall out easily. It started about 4 years ago and although it isn't totally devastating it's noticable, especially to me.I made an appointment with my doctor about 9 months ago and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I've been taking 25 MCG Levothyroxine (Synthroid) tablets daily since then. I'm not expecting full re-growth but I would say my hair situation is continuing to decline. However,I have noticed that a side-effect of Levothyroxine is ';Dry-brittle hair that tends to fall out easily';. I was wondering if it was possible to replace one cause with another (symptom of hypothyroidism with the side-effect of the medicine) or could they working in conjunction to ruin my social life (ha)?
My scalp is moderately flaky but sometimes my hair gets greasy, it may be due in part to my hair washing habits (wash about 2-3 times a week), but I find it discouraging when I look at my hands covered in hair. It's a lose-lose situation.Hair loss/thinning before and after Hypothyroidism treatment?
Use some hair vitalizer before bath this really works. This will stop hair loss. For new hair growth apply a little suitable oil gently after bath. Consult the doctor if he precribe you some calciums. There seems no harm to take one spoon honey if you are not diabitician or heavy weight.
