I have thinning/loss of hair, itchy scalp, and lots of dandruff?

It sucks, and I don't know what to do about it. I have been using Nizoral but it does not seem to be helping. Could this be several problems, or could it all be related to one problem?

The hair loss/thinning seemed to have started before, but more recently I have noticed a lot of dandruff and itchy scalp that won't go away, no matter how often I use Nizoral (and I have within the past few days started keeping the Nizoral on my scalp for several minutes before rinsing). I don't want to use Head %26amp; Shoulders since I hear that this causes hair thinning also.

As for my hair loss, I have been trying Rogaine for a few months, but I don't know how much it is helping (but I do admit that I miss applications quite often). A couple of days ago I read that I should start taking a B-Complex vitamin to help with hair loss, so I just started doing this. If this doesn't work, I will probably try Propecia.

Any advice for me? Being that they started at different times, I am skeptical if they are due to the same cause, but maybe it could be? Could it be head lice or something?

Thanks!I have thinning/loss of hair, itchy scalp, and lots of dandruff?
It's time to go see a physician... you need to get some bloodwork done. There's something far more going on here than just dandruff. It doesn't seem like lice... seems like it could be something going on in your blood. Thyroid problems can cause hair loss... and so can several different vitamin deficiencies.

Either way, it's something to go see a physician about.I have thinning/loss of hair, itchy scalp, and lots of dandruff?
My hair falls out a lot, but I don't worry about that because your hair is supposed to fall off. and mine grows back, if it didn't grow back I'd probably be bald. I use head and shoulders.

Go to a salon and ask them or a doctors , But I'd prefer a salon. Ask them what the best shampoo/conditioner is for your condition.
Check your diet Shawn, If you eat lots of starchy/sugary foods such as donuts and pastries, this could cause this problem.

  • Hair loss: Thin hair..Where should I start ?

Basically my hair is very thin.. I dont think its still falling now. My hair fell like hell, around 4/5 years ago.. never cared at that time.. may be reasons, I could think of is...too much of stress, wearing helment and it used to sweat inside the helment and lack of good nutrition food.. absolutely, food was very bad hair ..dont think fall has stabilized now..its NOT falling that bad.. but its very very thin... and scalp is easily visible.. I have done some google search and found that Rogains helps.it says: It has to be applied in the axis only, should be used for years, have applied for two days and I felt too dizzy and worried about health and returned the product... Should I consult a doctor and finding if there is any desease or getting some good list of vitamin tablets related. problem is finding the doctor, which doctor. or should I buy some multi vitamins my self and use ? Where should I start on this??Hair loss: Thin hair..Where should I start ?
Go to a dermatologist so that they can determine the cause then try a trichologist. your hair needs to be treated from the root and follicle beyong the scalp since hair grows inside out good-luckHair loss: Thin hair..Where should I start ?

I\'m not Asian, but people from my ethnic backgrounds are also notorious for having thick hair. My dad\'s an Irishman with coarse red hair and my mom\'s a Mexican with typical mestizo brunette hair...lethal combination for uber-thick and heavy hair. So, my question is, even though I\'m not Asian, my hair is much more thick than what the average Caucasian stylist is used to dealing with, but Asian stylists are used to dealing with thick hair aren\'t they? But then, my hair isn\'t bone straight either...my natural hair is straight, but not bone straight, and I like to have curl put into it.for more pls refer to http://www.aawoman.net
well for Hair Loss U must Drink Boil Spinach water its good for hair Growth %26amp; it Minimises Hair Fall.

Then For a Better Hair Growth Take any Brands Hair oil Heat it Up in a vessel Then Put Lots of Curry Leaves in It.

As the Curry Leaves turn Completely Black remove it from the Oil.

Then keep Oil Ur Hair Whenever Necessary.

This Removes the Dandruff %26amp; helps in Hair Growth.

Most important never take a bath with ur Dry hairs always Oil ur hair 1 hour before having a bath.
Maybe you could try beer , my auntie does it , because it contains yeaste known as a protein , protein it what helps our hair fingernails etc grow.

If not , maybe you could change your diet to have more calcium iron and protein etc that could be another problem.

Or have you recently dyed it or apply heat constantly like blowdrying or straightening , maybe you need a hair cut to rid of the dead hair.
Washing hair with a weak solution of salt cleans the scalp, cures dandruff and prevents hair loss.Check out http://usefulinfo-hairloss.blogspot.com/ for more info.
Try wheatgerm oil, mixed with a little lavender. About a tablespoon full, rub into your hair half an hour before washing. Shampoo well, then rinse. Shampoo again if residue still remains, then condition.
    use castor oil...

it'll make your hair grow faster and it would lessen hair loss and it would also thicken your hair...

Does anemia caused by iron deficiency (blood loss) cause thinning of the hair?

I recently found out I have been anemic for most of my adult life....for the last 10 yrs or more (blood count is 9)....and my hair has been thinning noticably in the last 3 years.... Could it be caused by the anemia? and if so, once I get my blood counts up to normal and maintain that, will my hair thicken up again?Does anemia caused by iron deficiency (blood loss) cause thinning of the hair?
thats interesting because i used to be slightly anemic but never did anything about it and my hair has thinned a lot too in the last years. hmm, think i'll check into it....Does anemia caused by iron deficiency (blood loss) cause thinning of the hair?
Well I know anemia caused by a lack of biotin, fatty acids, B5 or riboflavin can cause hair loss, so I suppose that iron deficiency anemia would do the same.
    Yes and Yes.

    http://www.squidoo.com/hairlosstreatment

Get a good iron supplement. Ask your doctor which one is the best.
Yeah, I am anemic, and my hair comes out in lumps when I brush it. If you get your count up and maintain it for some length of time, then your hair should thicken, Try eating things such as eggs, red meat, carrots oh and chocolate cake, believe it or not is also a good source of iron. (Its the only one of many high iron foods I like) but a good supplement from your doc should help too.
Yes it does. Also thyroid problems lead to hair thinning. As does malnutrition.

Miniature Schnauzer with muscle loss and thinning hair?

My 7 year old neutered Miniature Schnauzer has been slowly loosing hair for a few years and he's beginning to look hairless when shaved. His pits are completely bald, and his chest, neck and the stripe down his back are thinnest places. He has a lot of extra skin that is very thin.

He's also been loosing muscle mass for the past year, mostly around his neck. He lost a full inch in collar size in 3 months, and over the course of a year has lost 3 inches total. His masticular (jaw) muscles are also wasting and you can feel the bones in his face too well. There is nothing between his shoulder blades except skin. He's loosing muscle everywhere else also, and if I feed him more, he gets fat around the waste, but still doesn't gain muscle.

He gets a lot of exercise and is fed an evolutionary grain free high protein diet of dry form and is the fastest dog I've ever seen at the dog park. He has a ton of energy and rather acts like a puppy even after long walks, but his muscle and hair loss continue.

He has tested NEGATIVE for Cushings (low dex suppression test), hypo/hyperthyroidism, Addisons, Diabetes, and is allergic to grains (hence the grain free diet). I don't think he has polymyositis because he eats and drinks just fine and has no problems opening his mouth.

He's had comprehensive urinalysis and blood work which showed elevated liver enzymes. He was given a shot for that but no cause was found. The vet thinks he's fine, but he's not because he gets more and more scrawny each month. He's even receiving a daily multivitamin supplement in addition to his food (He is fed Innova Evo Reduced Fat and similar foods.). What could be wrong with him? Since my vet isn't too helpful, do I need a specialist? If so what kind?

    MATURE, EDUCATED ANSWERS ONLY PLEASE!!

I take this issue seriously and am concerned for the health of my dog.

If you're going to tell me food is the problem read this:

He was slowing down and appeared to be aging when fed foods like Purina One, Pro Plan, Beneful, etc. He was allergic to grains also. When I discovered REAL dog food, I switched him to foods like Innova Evo Reduced Fat, Blue Wilderness, etc and now he has the energy and speed that he had when he was about 1 year old. The food switch took place 6 months ago and has drastically improved his vigor, but has done nothing to stop the hair and muscle loss. Therefore, food is not the problem. He's not fat either.Miniature Schnauzer with muscle loss and thinning hair?
You need another vet's opinion, the dog could have cancer, and your vet is not catching it...loosing weight, muscle mass. loss of hair, loss of jaw area.

these are sign of cancer, and can be anywhere in his little body,.

I lost a Min. Schnauzer to cancer in 2004, he had all these symptoms, even while going throught the treatments..please get another opinion for the sake of your little dog.

good luck, hope its not ,and I really hope your dog gets well soon.

please get a second opinion, or talk to your vet again, and have them run tests, xrays, especially in the rear area, in Min. Schnauzers, this is where the most common cancers form on them, even neutered males....it can be a missed liver misfunction, thyroid.......Miniature Schnauzer with muscle loss and thinning hair?
I'm glad your feeding your dog so well. I wish I had found out sooner about REAL foods. It might have made a quality-of-life difference for our older dog which was recently put to sleep, she was 15, I'll never know.

For others reading this, you can see foods compared here:

    http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_

Perhaps examining your dog's environment will result in finding environmental issues.

    FALLING HAIR -

Does your hair fall a lot? Don't worry, you're not alone. Millions of people from all around the world suffer from dry, brittle and weak hair. Some of the possible reasons for falling hair are:

    Tension

    Too much work

    Illness

    Poor diet

    Over-exposure to the sun

    Perming

    Amateur bleaching

Too frequent and inexpert use of tints, rinses or other colourants

Here is what you can do to prevent hair fall

Shampoo regularly. Remember, a CLEAN scalp is a HEALTHY SCALP.

Brahmi amla oil also promotes hair growth.

A high protein diet with plenty of fruits, green vegetables and dairy products is a must.

Drink 10-12 glass of water everyday.

Use a very mild shampoo and condition your hair at least twice a week. When you do, make sure you rinse out the conditioner thoroughly, otherwise residue build-up will cause your hair to look limp and dull.

Know your vitamins! IRON is important for healthy hair and brittle, limp hair indicates an iron deficiency. Spinach has a good iron content, so gulp it down!

ZINC helps prevent hair loss and greying. Eat adequate zinc rich foods. Overweight people tend to have zinc deficiency, which is inversely related to the body mass index. Thus if you are overweight and if your hair falls too much, you may want to increase your intake of zinc containing foods. Recipes containing stone ground, wholegrain flour are rich in zinc.

A shortfall in VITAMIN B may cause dandruff, falling hair, loss of colour and could encourage grey hair. So B group Vitamins are essential for gloss, colour and thickness.

VITAMIN C ensures the health of capillaries supplying blood to hair follicles. Make sure your diet includes plenty of fresh fruits and veggies.

VITAMIN E encourages hair growth. Switch from refined flours to wholemeal and wheatgerm, eggs, vegetable oil.

COPPER stops hair from falling. Studies show that the copper content in the blood serum of people with falling hair is less than normal. Different types of alopecia (falling hair) are seen to have a deficiency of this important trace element. Include small quantities of nuts, especially cashews and peanuts, seeds, whole milk and beans in your diet as these contain minute but important amounts of copper.

Homemade remedies for preventing hair fall:

Apply almond oil on scalp and massage.

Grind fenugreek seeds in water and apply on your scalp. Wash off after 40 minutes. Do this every morning for a month 隆V if it suits you! Remember, different treatments suit different types of hair.

Massage warm castor oil + almond oil into your scalp gently. Wrap a hot towel around your scalp so it gets absorbed into the hair. Do this twice a week for healthy, shiny hair.

Add 2-3 drops of honey to a glass of water and use this as the last rinse after shampooing.

    Quick Hair Care Conditioner

Mix 1 egg, 2 tbs castor oil, 1 tsp vinegar and 1 tsp glycerine. Beat until frothy and massage lightly into your scalp. Wrap your head in a hot towel, steam, then wash off. This conditioner makes hair thicker, shiny, soft and manageable.

    Honey Conditioner

Beat 1-2 eggs (depending on the length of the hair), 1 tsp honey and 2 tsp olive oil. Massage gently into the scalp. Steam, and shampoo after an hour.

    Alcohol Conditioner

Beat 1-2 eggs with 2 tsp brandy. Massage into your scalp. Leave for 10-15 mins. Rinse well. The egg nourishes your hair and brandy stimulates hair growth.

Your hair is a vital beauty asset, requiring constant loving care. And with a little nurturing, lush, glossy hair will be yours

    ESSENTIALS FOR FALLING HAIR -

Does your hair fall often Arm yourself with these tools to combat hair fall.

    Wide-toothed comb

Get yourself a wide-toothed comb. This is probably one of the most important yet underutilized of all hair tools. A wide-toothed comb helps you distribute conditioner evenly all over your hair while shampooing and conditioning. In addition, it also helps get rid of knots smoothly.

The best time to get rid of knots is during conditioning. Apply conditioner and run a wide toothed comb gently through your hair.

While untangling dry hair, do so in sections. Take one section at a time, and first, untangle the ends of your hair. Do so slowly, and don?t pull unless you want your hair to fall out in clumps or break.

Don?t wait for the last minute before detangling your hair. Every night, while sitting in front of the television, run a wide toothed comb gently through your hair, until you have untangled it completely. Do this every night, and you will notice that your hair remains free from tangles.

    Leave-in conditioner

Dry hair tends to tangle easily, and, needless to say, causes it to break. Make sure your hair is never devoid of moisture by always keeping a bottle of leave-in conditioner handy. The next time you feel your hair is dry and rough to the touch, simply rub a dollop of leave-in conditioner between your palms, and apply it to your hair. Comb through with your wide toothed comb. Your hair will be instantly rejuvenated and moisturized. Gradually, the texture will also improve. This is a must if you blow dry your hair regularly, or if it is chemically treated. Such hair constantly craves moisture, so get yourself a bottle of leave-in conditioner.

    Oil

Olive, almond and coconut oils are all excellent for the hair. While you could apply oil as an alternative to leave-in conditioner, oil tends to make your hair sticky, and you cannot style your hair well after applying oil. Your only alternative would then be to tie up your hair. For better results with oil, apply just a few drops immediately after washing your hair, when your hair is still dripping wet. Oil doesn?t penetrate the strands as easily as leave-in conditioner does though. Nothing beats a hot oil massage followed by a steam treatment, as the steam helps the oil penetrate the hair strands, strengthening them and curtailing hair fall.

    Egg

Egg is great for the hair ? there are no two ways about it! True, it causes a tremendous stink in the bathroom, and your hair may let off an ?eggy? smell, but the results are instantaneous and worth it! Egg strengthens your hair almost immediately, and the egg yolk leaves your hair shining. Whip an egg with two tablespoons of olive oil and apply it to your hair. Wash off after half an hour. Make sure you wash off with cold water though, or the egg will start cooking in your hair, and would be harder to take off! Use a scented shampoo to counter the smell of egg in your hair, and follow up with a leave-in conditioner. Do this for a month, and you will be amazed by the change in your hair texture and the reduction in hair fall.Rapidly thinning hair and a lot of hair loss help?
Get Nioxin!! It's a little pricey but is well worth it. I had a similar problem to yours and my hair broke off up to my ears and I had hair a little past my shoulders. I pretty much had a short bob. I went to a salon and this lady told me about it. I used it and within 6 months my hair had grown back to my shoulders, and past it. Since I have my hair back healthy I now alternate washing my hair with biosilk. Give it a try.
You could be anemic (lacking iron). This is the most common reason for hair loss. Another reason can be an allergy or skin disease. I suggest you go to the doctor, get your blood work done and consult about it.

Fatigue, hair thinning/dry, wt loss but loss of appetite...due to?

I have been blaming 10 hr days, quick 5 min snack lunch meal, lot of stress on job lately and I am just worn out...am on thyroid medicine and had surgery on ulnar nerve in arm in Oct could cause hair problems but your thinking?? Just began taking some vitamins thinking that may help but I can go all day and not eat but live on coffee and cokes.....thanks for suggestionsFatigue, hair thinning/dry, wt loss but loss of appetite...due to?
The reason your hair is getting thin is because of an improper diet. You need quality nutrition to feed the hair follicles. Living on coffee and cokes can easily make you feel fatigued. Coffee plays havoc on the body.coca cola is loaded with sugar and that causes a loss of energy. You need to start eating real food. You can talk to your doctor about this but the real problem is bad nutrition. It's easy to make the sandwich and take that with you to work. Grab a yogurt. There's many foods to choose from. It's up to you to make the decision of what you do with your body.Fatigue, hair thinning/dry, wt loss but loss of appetite...due to?
a few days off and a doctor's visit is my suggestion. Sound like your diet is for crap. You need a balanced diet, even some fats. Slow down and enjoy life a bit. You may have all the money in the world one day, but can you spend it from a hospital bed, or worse, a casket?
It looks like your thyroid med levels need to be checked. It's a delicate balance. My mother is on thyroid medicine and they change her levels quite frequently.
Change your diet to balanced one, with lots of vegetables and fruits. Reduce coffee and coke intake.

Give some time for regular exercise.

Meditation is also very good for reducing your stress.

Check your thyroid hormone level as it will be needed more, if you are in stress.

Try to find enjoyable things or hobby in your life.

These all make your life enjoyable.
Could be job stress, but 10 hrs/day isn't unusual, would have loved to work so few.

You should see the saw-bones and have some blood work done just to be safe.

  • Itchy and Oly Scalp with Thinning and Hair-loss at the age of 21??

    Hi!

I'm 21, and I'm experiencing a LOT OF hair loss these days; each time I put my finger in my hair I pull at least 3 good hairs, which aren't even thin or sth to say they're falling off naturally. For the thin hairs, believe me, my comb is pretty much like a head now. My scalp became extremely itchy and oily lately, especially in the crown area.

It's been the exams period, and I've put myself under a tremendous pressure; I'm anxious most of the time, don't sleep well and I don't eat well. I know those are all good reasons for hair to fall off. But what about the itch and oil? and also, if I started sleeping and eating well when my exams period is over, will my hair grow back again?

Please let me know if this is caused by DHT or anything u think it's the reason behind it all.

    Thanks!

P.S. There aren't competent doctors in my country, I wanna depend on myself in curing this.Itchy and Oly Scalp with Thinning and Hair-loss at the age of 21??
Hair loss is caused by many reasons such as malnutrition, illness, tension and other health problems. It is normal to shed some hair each day as part of a cycle of growing new hairs and loosing some. Badly damaged hair breaks at the scalp. Check out http://usefulinfo-hairloss.blogspot.com/ for more info.

I have hair loss e.g thinning and eyebrow loss (and pubic hair).. im only 13!?

Someone help me? i dont want to end up bald by 16!I have hair loss e.g thinning and eyebrow loss (and pubic hair).. im only 13!?
This is not normal. You are very very sick. Go see your doctor right now. It's a sign that there is something very wrong with you.I have hair loss e.g thinning and eyebrow loss (and pubic hair).. im only 13!?
Visit a doctor. It's probably a hormonal imbalance or something that can be fixed with Rogane or the likes.
Go quickly to the doctor and get a blood test done, don't sit around and suffer. What are your parents doing about this!
Sounds like Alopecia....go to a doctor to be sure.

alright, don't eat anything too salty. salty foods make you lose hair. and use this shampoo called ';mane'; or something...it helps
Apply garbanzo beans powder and egg yolk to the scalp once a week. It helps make your hair stronger and healthy.

Are just beginning to lose hair?
    A Gillette Mach 3 razor

My dog has bumps/pimples, icthing, peeling of the skin, hair loss spots or thinning. what is it?

My dog was treated for a bacterial infection about a month and a half ago and she is still showing signs of the infection. Its red near her abdominal. she is losing her hair in certain spots or in patches. She is biting her tail, back area, and so forth. she was giving oral antibiotics, giving fish protein to mix in her food, and a shampoo to was her three times a week for three weeks. everything was done and given to her but she still has this problem. The vet didnt really know what her problem is he took her skin graph and still nothing showed up, what is the problem? Until i get her back to the vet what could I do to stop the itching? My dog has bumps/pimples, icthing, peeling of the skin, hair loss spots or thinning. what is it?
Hmm that sounds like what my Lab was going thorough. Nothing to freak out about. It sounds like Mange or Allergies. You should keep the dog clean don't leave her outside. Itching is most likely the allergies. She might be allergic to something outside or some thing inside like a type of Cleaner. Change some of the stuff to see if anything changes. My dog has bumps/pimples, icthing, peeling of the skin, hair loss spots or thinning. what is it?
for all the time it took you to write this, you could have found another vet. If your vet doesn't 'know', why not take your dog elsewhere? even if it was for just this problem. No shame in talking to someone else if your dog is miserable.
    probably allergies
CHANGE HER FOOD TO NUTRO'S LAMB AND RICE WITH LINATONE FOR GREAT SKIN AND SHINY HAIR. MY DOG WAS JUST LIKE YOURS AND WITHIN A MONTH IS OSO SHINY AND THICK WITH NO MORE SHEDDING. FOODS WITH ';CHICKEN BY PRODUCES'; HAVE THE FEET, BEAK SKIN, FEATHERS! ALL THAT USELESS JUNK THAT CAUSES THESE KINDS OF SKIN PROBLEMS. TRY IT YOU WILL BE SO PLEASED. IT WORKED ON ALL 4 OF MY DANES.
your dog may have mange my dog had the same thing and if thats what it is its a possibility your dog may not make it so get it to the best vet in town my dog had mange so bad it would bleed it itched it so bad so we had to put her to sleep u could go to a pet store for dogs and get some anti itch creme that may help
Your dog has the mange when we had our dog and she started doing that especially losing the hair my dad rubbed some motor oil on her coat everyday and it actually worked and her coat grew back she stopped biting and her coat was healthier than it was before she started losing her hair
Sounds like sarcoptic mange. Some of our pups picked this up at the vet's office a couple of years ago. When they started having symptoms, I took them to the vet and he didn't find the mange, a couple of weeks later, I took them to another vet and she said it was the mange. It is a bugger to get rid of.

Sarcoptic mange, commonly known as canine scabies is caused by the parasite Sarcoptes scabiei. These microscopic mites can invade the skin of healthy dogs or puppies and create a variety of skin problems, the most common of which is hair loss and severe itching. While they will infect other animals and even humans, they prefer to live their short lives on dogs. Fortunately, there are several good treatments for this parasite and the disease can be easily controlled.
You can give the dog benadryl....its sounds like an allergic reaction....a friend of mine went through it recently....it took months to get it daignosed that hes allergic to grass....now she has to keep it mowed very short and hose him off after he plays in it, but he did get better. The vet told her benadryl was fine.
    Get a second opinion.
Some dogs have food allergies, particularly to corn which is in most dog foods. You can give 1mg per pound of Benadryl twice daily and see if that helps the itching, but it sounds like the skin infection started because of a food allergy, Science Diet makes a food called D/D in a variety of different flavors. This contains different protiens in it that your dog may not be allergic to. I would ask my vet about it because it is a prescription diet. Z/D ultra is another hills food that is hypo-allergenic. If its not a food allergy it could be a flea allergy. where if a flea bites your dog then it has an allergic reaction. Frontline is a flea and tick prevention that is a once a month topical preventative. it is best i\used in conjunction with Interceptor a heartworm prevention. It will be neccessary to have a heartworm test done prior to givin the interceptor to make sure your dog doesnt already have them. but overall your dog most likely has some kind of allergy. have a good day
YOu really need to get help from professional. Please dont waste any more time! call someone.. Poor doggy...
She could be allergic to something, her food brand, bedding,

her shampoo.See if you can find what she is coming into contact with that is causing this, if she scratches more, on the carpet or in her little bed etc... For the itching use Benadryl. Yes, the same kind we humans use, it is safe and will stop the itching. Try this and see if it helps

Does atenolol cause thinning hair or loss of hair/?

this is a high blood pressure pill only 25 Mg i take once a day but i notice my hair starting to thin out? could this pill be why? im only 20Does atenolol cause thinning hair or loss of hair/?
no.Does atenolol cause thinning hair or loss of hair/?
atenolol has been found to cause hair loss in a small number of patients. I would speak to your doctor and ask for an alternative medicine for your blood pressure. Since it is a known side effect your doctor will prescribe an alternative treatment for you. Hair loss/thinning before and after Hypothyroidism treatment?

So I'm a 19 year old male with thinning hair, that tends to fall out easily. It started about 4 years ago and although it isn't totally devastating it's noticable, especially to me.I made an appointment with my doctor about 9 months ago and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I've been taking 25 MCG Levothyroxine (Synthroid) tablets daily since then. I'm not expecting full re-growth but I would say my hair situation is continuing to decline. However,I have noticed that a side-effect of Levothyroxine is ';Dry-brittle hair that tends to fall out easily';. I was wondering if it was possible to replace one cause with another (symptom of hypothyroidism with the side-effect of the medicine) or could they working in conjunction to ruin my social life (ha)?

My scalp is moderately flaky but sometimes my hair gets greasy, it may be due in part to my hair washing habits (wash about 2-3 times a week), but I find it discouraging when I look at my hands covered in hair. It's a lose-lose situation.Hair loss/thinning before and after Hypothyroidism treatment?
Use some hair vitalizer before bath this really works. This will stop hair loss. For new hair growth apply a little suitable oil gently after bath. Consult the doctor if he precribe you some calciums. There seems no harm to take one spoon honey if you are not diabitician or heavy weight.

  • Hair loss/thinning?

my hair is thinning above my temples and working its way towards the back. is there any pill or shampoo that i can buy over the counter? or what else can i do?Hair loss/thinning?
well there's a thing called Olive Oil and it helps your roots to to grow and try not to keep washing your hair do it in a simple style keep that style because if you keep fiddling in your hair its going to keep losing hairHair loss/thinning?
The causes can be different in men and women--for men it's usually genetic, and something like Rogaine might help. For women, it's sometimes stress or hormone changes, so getting your hormones checked and reducing stress would be the way to go. Vitamins are good for everyone in this area, and there are vitamins make especially for your hair. Massaging your scalp every day for a few minutes helps by increasing the circulation to the scalp.
well when ur younger ur hair grows nice n faster b/c of the exercise n deit u've grown up with...i had the same problem u have i use to have long hair down where my bra strap is and i choped it to ear length and it took awhile to grow back...but now its past my clavical...took 2yrs to find the best way to grow it back...what i do is i use oil base condionter n shampoo and precondition my hair b4 i wash it like hot oil treatments or put cond. on the ends of my hair then i wash it and i leave a lil put of cond. on the ends to keep it perfect from the heat n also from brushin it like crazy..i also take prenatal vitamins which help b/c of the folic aicd and vitamin b...also just trim the ends where u see a split end not to much just enough so it won't go ne higher...if u try this method it should help the hair to come back nice b/c i told my friend the same thing n she can't stop tellin me thank u
Your body's level of DHT production (which is hereditary to some extent) is the main culprit. Case in point, it's hormonal. Either your body produces a lot of testosterone or you are genetically predisposed to being very sensitive to the effects of DHT. If you also have a lot of body hair or thick body hair it is definitely DHT levels. It may also be from stress, a reaction to Sulfactants (common inside many of the cheaper soaps/shampoos/conditioners), or a poor diet high in transitive fats. It's not uncommon to develop hair loss as early as 17, I sure did. If you don't want to see it progress than you need to do something about it now, because once the follicles have shrunken and closed for over 2 years or so it will be forever impossible to bring that hair back. Consider Finasteride or Propecia, both of which come in generic versions which are available cheaper from international pharmacies (order online). Consuming lots of soy also helps somewhat, it is a testosterone atagonist to some degree. Be aware that balding is essentially an effect of testosterone, and as such any means to combat it will involve hormonal altercation which runs the (small but very real) risk of diminished sexual drive and/or function. Topical Minixoidil (Rogaine) will help hair follicles open up and discourage shrinking but it alone is not enough to reverse balding, it will only slow it or enhance the effects of Finasteride/Propecia.
Severe hair problems may cause anguish.Badly damaged hair breaks at the scalp. Here a few simple home remedies which can be tried at home to control hair fall. Info for wife: hair thinning and loss on hrt for over 30yrs 2yrs ago went on lower dose of hrt trying to wean?

off for the last few months could it be the lower dose and the weaning off or the hormones themselves that are causing this her hair is brittle and dry too any info would be a great help as she is also suffering from night sweats and hot flashes during the day needless to say it is rather unpleasant around here(to say the least)Info for wife: hair thinning and loss on hrt for over 30yrs 2yrs ago went on lower dose of hrt trying to wean?
God I hate hormones. But yes the change in hormones can effect the hair. The other thing she may want the doctor to check is her thyroid levels. They have tendency to change during this time as well and can cause major hair loss and dry brittle hair.

I'm not sure why they are trying to wean her off the hormones just yet since it sounds like she is still in full swing?

As far as the night sweats, try wearing cotton night gown if she wears cloths to bed (preferably to wear nothing) and keep a fan blowing on her. This will allow her body to stay cool and able to be covered up.

Hot Flashes during the day. Avoid heavy clothing and when the hot flashes hit try to breath threw them (for some woman they are so intense they pass out) If she is a stay at home wife then find the cold wash rag and sit in front of the fan.

Moods= I PROMISE THEY WILL GET BETTER! While you may feel little hope right now, trust me it's harder on HER than YOU. Test the waters before speaking if she seems to be pleasant enough then approach if her mood changes in the middle of the conversation RUN LIKE MAD (LOL)! Give her space. Also, in the mean time tell her that you understand she is having a rough time and you will do everything possible to help or keep her comfortable, but she needs to control her rages (difficult, but can be done)

    I hope this helps!

So is thinning hair or mild hair loss strictly genetic??

What are some preventive steps? I herd a new study that smoking causes hair loss thank god I dont smoke lolSo is thinning hair or mild hair loss strictly genetic??
yes but it is mostly genetic or causes can be from a medication that you are taking but all in all you should start a treatment but the name of the game is you can never stop if you start a hair loss treatment so be careful and caucious Nioxin has a great new system ....good luckSo is thinning hair or mild hair loss strictly genetic??
Get on propecia and do rogaine. You could also try taking saw palmetto. Get some nizoral shampoo.
It's not always genetic. My best friend has very thin hair, and it was caused by her having anorexia as a teenager.

Stress can cause you to lose hair, and you won't really notice it until 6 weeks later. Smoking does it, some medications will do it too.

Look at your family. ';Baldness'; is passed from the mother. Do any of the women in your family have thin or thinning hair? If not, then you need to look at other reasons.
I found some good info here.

Hair loss due to thinning of hair.?

i m 16 year old..bt at such a short age i am loosing my hairs due to thinning of hair...it has become very thin not only on my head but everywhere on my body...it has also happend to my hair on my cheeks also..

    suggest e something..

which shampoo shhould be used which would be very mild and not at all hard.Hair loss due to thinning of hair.?
Could be a growth/puberty issue caused by hormones. There are many conditions that also cause hair loss all over. I would go see a doctor to be sure it isn't signalling an underlying condition.

Nutrition and stress can also play roles in hair loss, so look at what you are eating.

I would stay away from any harsh treatments, like dye, and when you can let your hair air dry (not blow dry) For mild you can use baby shampoo and conditioner.

Can green tea help with thinning, receding, loss of hair etc.?

It has caffeine which can increase hair loss but enzymes which can reduce the conversion of testosterone to DHT, which is responsible of your hair thinning.

    (sigh..)

Does green tea help or not? Any success stories? Can green tea help with thinning, receding, loss of hair etc.?

Drink 10-12 glasses of water daily and have a high protein diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables and dairy products. Since iron-deficiency anemia can also cause hair loss, make sure that you eat a well-balanced diet that includes a daily serving or two of iron-rich foods. Check out

You should try any herbal or natural remedy for the hair loss treatment.

Herbal and natural remedies in general and hair loss remedies in particular are a far cheaper option than the modern medicine. They are simple to prepare and you hardly ever need he highly expensive professional supervision for their use.

Why is my hair thinning and i have hair loss?

I am a 15 year old male. The last few months my hair has started to thin and i have noticed that i can see a lot of bald spot on my head. I do not think i am balding because my family does not have this kind of genetic. One also thing is that i dyed my hair 3 months ago but i dont think that has anything related to this because my itching and hair loss started about a month after i dyed my hair. I was wondering what has cause this problem and my head is itching seriously bad. It almost hurts just to think about it.Why is my hair thinning and i have hair loss?
year ago my husband suffered very much from dandruff and hair loss too and he started trying everything you can imagine to stop his hair loss. the things that really worked for him was:

    1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

    2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

    3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

    4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice (you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

    5) also he used herbal treatment - TrichoZed and Provilluss (do not use Rogaine - it will not work!)

Those are a good products that helps prevent hair loss and contains Biotin and the clinically tested ingredients approved by the FDA to help re-grow your hair.! I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for him!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry TrichoZed and Provillus but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here

    http://www.trichozed.info/ingredients.ph

(TrichoZed鈩?will produce noticeable hair growth in 30 to 45 days. A consistent use of TrichoZed鈩?ensures permanent results within 6 months. Further use shall maintain optimal health of your hair.)

    and here

    http://www.provillus.com/?aid=221781

(Provillus鈩?will produce noticeable hair growth in 40. A consistent use of TrichoZed鈩?ensures permanent results within ~5 months.)

It enhances hair growth by blocking DHT (Dihydrotestostrone) - a major cause of hair loss!

Also Informative video about Provillus - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ydvCHhbR

    good luck!

not only my husband`s own personal experience + working as a family physicianWhy is my hair thinning and i have hair loss?
It could be a long-term reaction to hair dye, especially if it was the double-process kind.

    Sometimes heredity skips a generation.

Anyway, the itching does not sound good. I think you should see a dermatologist. Haven't you suffered enough?
It really may be due to the hair color. It could also be lack of nutrition. I would get Head %26amp; Shoulders for dry/itchy scalp and take vitamins.

Anorexia & hair loss - small patches or overall thinning?

But does it cause small individual bald patches, or just overall thinning of the hair?

Could it cause both, or just either or?

Thanks. =)Anorexia %26amp; hair loss - small patches or overall thinning?
Hi there, I've struggled with this myself. I'm not here to judge you, I hope you'll find the resources helpful. As for your question:

';In Anorexia and Bulimia, the Anagen (growing phase) of the hair cycle is prematurely terminated by starvation, gastric abnormalities or reduced vital organ performance.

The hair follicles skip the Catogen phase and enter the Telogen (loss phase). The resulting excessive hair losses (telogen effluvium) commence 6-12 weeks later. Read more

    The average scalp has 84000 - 145000 hairfollicles. In healthy persons at any given time, approximately 80-90% of scalp follicles are in the hair producing (anagen) phase, with 10-20% in the telogen phase. Normal average daily hair loss is 60-150 hairs.In Telogen Effluvium, the anagen and telogen ratios change dramatically. Statistics are unreliable. The author has observed patients loosing all but the shortest hairs within 6-12 weeks of the onset. ';

I hope this is understandable because i just want to clarify the question first and i am not insulting you in the least it is a good question.

It seems logical to say the both/ and but then i am ruling out the either/or so I have just made a contradiction. So you see my point as elementary that it is. (Philosophically or scientifiically ) I think there might be a corelation which I have heard of but never actually done the reasearch

my sense and my thinking are different epistemically.

So to say it is both the patches orr the overall is based on what is sense and quite often science does not make ';sense'; that is a different subject.

Make sense? don't worry it isn't supposed to

What is good for hair loss and thin hair for young people? Are multi vitamins god or a waste of my money?

Vitamins can be very helpful especially if there is a deficiency. Main deficiencies that cause hair loss are zinc, iron and protein. Biotin, niacin and most B vitamins can help growth. Some vitamins are a waste of money. They must be high quality and highly absorbable. Spirulina and chlorella are excellent sources of high quality nutrients.

Essential oil scalp massage formulas provide an excellent natural hair regrowth remedy. They stimulate new hair growth and make existing hair strong and healthy by supplying nourishment and energy to the hair follicles and roots and by keeping the scalp clean and healthy. The article below explains how this works. What is good for hair loss and thin hair for young people? Are multi vitamins god or a waste of my money?
Vitamins are great! If you are noticing hair loss or dry brittle hair it can definately be a reflection of what you are eating, but not always.....If you are loosing large amounts( in chunks) then I recommend seeing your doctor, you don't want to ignore a serious problem. If it's just regular thinning that comes normally, I would suggest using a shampoo that has rosemary oil in it, I have been recently trying to get my hair to grow longer, Rosemary was recommended as well as lemongrass, and lavendar, I have been using it, I've noticed some length but more than anything else I loose less hair in the shower and I've noticed that its gotten thicker, I have to tell you though some of these shampoos can get exspensive so a cheaper route would be to get the oils from health or vitamin store and add a few drops to your regular shampoo at home, just remember more of this stuff is not better, it has to used in very small portions or else it can cause damage, and it has to be well diluted. So if you do decide all you need is about 5drops in a full bottle of conditioner and rememeber to shake well before using everytime. you'll start to see results in about 28days.What is good for hair loss and thin hair for young people? Are multi vitamins god or a waste of my money?
Multi vitamins are a very good idea to help strengthen hair and prevent hair loss. Try using Biotin and B5, you may also want to take a look at a product that a friend of mine uses. He is a young good looking guy that was loosing is hair until he started using this product.

The Doctor’s did not do their homework on this one…

To whom, is sitting under a lazer 3 times a week for a year or more and paying $3K to $5K for the privilege, an answer? Not in my world… “Heredity” as the only reason mentioned for hair loss??? Who do they think are the viewing audience? We are not that naive. What about our bodies internal changes that causes the hair to fall out? Hormones, toxins, stress, the food we eat, etc.

This is an epidemic problem in North America and needs to be addressed with some research and facts. Not “snake oil” in the form of a lazer… Please, don’t insult us.

Sign me – Tried it all (good grief not the lazer)and still getting drafty on top.

I agree with you in regards to their response about hair loss. There are many reasons for hair loss, I for one am dealing with hair loss because of menopause and lack of estrogen. WHY DO THEY NEVER TALK ABOUT THAT IF THERE IS HELP FOR THAT. I have actually written to this show about another topic involving a womens disease and THEY HAVE NEVER RESPONDED. They talked about silly subjects and give you basic info.

Hey dd50. I am also in menopause and my hair has been seriously thinning this past 2 years (I’m 51). I just wrote a letter to the show basicly saying “shame on you” for the trite reason and solution given. I would encourage you to write them again… Menopausal, and all women need to insist on doctors taking this issue seriously and finding solutions. You and I have probably done more research on it than the good Doctors.

I’ve gone past menopause and my hair is a fifth of what it once was. It has become very fine as well. I’ve also lost most of my body hair. So this has to do with hormones? I’ve been tested for anything and everything under the sun, but no results. All hormones are fine and thyroid is working fine. Weight loss has become a problem as well. I had my hysterectomy at age 43 and went into menopause fairly early. That is when my body hair started to go and I started losing hands full of hair. It became almost scary to brush my hair and look at the brush afterward. Is there an answer for aging women?

The laser treatment is far too expensive for the ordinary woman, especially if she’s single and just holding her head above water. That’s if it is even available in BC which I don’t think it is. And would it work for hairloss due to menopause and aging? I’d like to hear some answers to these questions.

Ladies, I’m in agreement with you; there is so much to be said about hair loss and the number of factors that play into why this happens to women. I am now 51 but I started losing hair in my mid 20’s when I started experiencing stress, changed my diet, started taking birth control (hormonal changes) and continued until now. I have recently gone to a holistic doctor who actually has a blood test which is not the typical standard test given at the regular doctors and the test revealed that I have problems with my thyroid (also identified problems with the adrenal which affects the hormones). The thyroid is one of the potential major contributor to hair loss. The standard blood tests have such a wide range of acceptable average levels that they cannot pin point this as a problem. I have just started the natural herbs to first fix the problem and it will obviously take some time to see results.

I would say that eventually someone will come up with a solution because it will be a money maker and you know if there is money to be made they will eventually come up with something that will work.

I am a 43 years old female and have always had thin hair but I am at the point that it is noticeable (in the front and top of my head). As each year passes, my hair gets thinner. I am taking a multi-vitamin that is suppose to help hair growth and am using Rogaine for 8 years. Does anyone have advise that I could try?

Hi there, I am new to hair loss but since it started a yr or so ago, it’s progressing very quickly. I actually do a comb over.. OMG I can’t believe I do that. But I’ve found that if I don’t people stare and they don’t respect me. For example. I have not worked in a couple years and struggle every day. I’ve had interviews alot. They see my resume and call me in right away. However, when they see my head, and I know they are staring at my head they just don’t seem to want to deal with me. Maybe I don’t look nice enough for their customers or something. I try to deal with it on my own. I’ve had my thyroid checked and it’s fine. So far my doctor doesn’t know why I’m losing hair so fast other than my mom had the same problem when she was my age. I have gone into menopause as of a couple yrs ago so could it be hormonal? All I know is I now hide from the world and don’t have money to pay for creams let alone lazer treatments. Where can we get these treatments? If I could get a loan without a job I might be able to afford them. Is there anything we can do at home that wouldn’t cost my
I would say not to use chemicals on your hair. Why don't you go for some home remedies. Egg whites, lemon juice, oil massages, reducing stress and diet changes can reduce hair fall and make it healthier. Good Luck!Protein based shampoo for thinning hair and hair loss?
Angele gave you the right info. I'm older than you and use it, and it works. My wife has a beauty salon and sells it...and rarely gets a customer that comes back and says it won't work.

What should I do about my hair thinning and hair loss?

I've just recently noticed that my hairline is receding and that I'm thinning in the front. One of my grandfathers was bald and the other had thin hair. My mother has thin hair. My brother has always had thin hair and started balding at 18. My father has thick hair and is only balding a little in the front. I'm 28 and have always had lush beautiful thick hair. In the past 2 years I've noticed the front thinning out and my hairline receding. I have little scabs sometimes and tiny scraggly hairs on my hairline and under bright lights I can see right through my hair on the front. The back and sides are still thick though.

I've started to research the many claimed ';solutions'; and ';cures';. I know it's a multi billion dollar business and results aren't typical. I don't buy into fake b.s. and am not looking to wasting my money. I'm not into taking pharmaceuticals or having sexual side effects. I did see this video which interested me.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V64ht1r8A

So basically I'm just in the early stages of thinning right now. Should I tackle this head on, no pun intended, and try and prevent anymore thinning and eventual hair loss, or just let nature take its course and hope for a future cure?

Has anyone had and success and proof, i.e. before and after pics, with any type of treatment?

There has got to be a real natural cure for this. What should I do about my hair thinning and hair loss?
Actually, you might not be going bald from genetics if you have scabs on your head. See if you are getting enough protein and invest in a good haircare system, like Redken shampoo, conditioner, and its super treatment. Only wash your hair every few days and let the natural oils sit on your head to get your scalp back in shape, you should even do an olive oil treatment while you sleep. Heat up some extra virgin olive oil and let it sit in your hair overnight and just put a shower cap or bandanna on your head. What you need to do is make your scalp have the environment not to get scabs. Chances are, your scalp is dry. Consistent dry scalp leads so small, microscopic scars... and hair cannot grow on a scar EVER. Do a little research to find out what you may be missing from your diet (protein is the base of all skin growth) and your scalp should start healing. You may grow hair back or you may only prevent future hair loss.

Also, if you style your hair stop using harsh products. Ask your stylist, barber, whomever for products that wont lead to a dry scalp. For instance, if you use product to just get the stray hairs into place, use a little bit of olive oil instead. It will hold all day, give a nice shine, and condition your hair. Keep in mind, you may have to work from the inside (your diet) out (how you treat your hair)What should I do about my hair thinning and hair loss?
    grow old gracefully
if you are going bald you cant stop it... just embrace the baldness!
Only way to change anything is to change your Genes .... You know that is not possible. Sorry to be straightforward. I believed the same thing as you did ... there should be a solution that works, as men have around for long. Guess what, the hair transplant companies have made a big business out of this problem and will not easily let go. There is no funding for a genetic solution .... as there is only loss for them ...

There are somethings that may decrease the rate of loss ... but none can ever stop it. Ultimately, it will lead to balding. It ain't that bad ... believe me.

Try Rogaine, reduce stress ... when you are ready you can try other solutions such as hair transplants ... but none really cure it all. It can be expensive as well.

    Good luck,

Hair loss and thinning please help?

iv been under alot of stress the last year and the back part of my hair on my necks almost gone and the fringe has gone back an inch and im still teenage and its gotten thin i use have my hair up but now i have it down and liked it but it keeps getting worse and it looks worse , (iv used some of the shampoos) please help.Hair loss and thinning please help?
year ago I suffered very much from dandruff and hair loss too and I started trying everything you can imagine to stop my hair loss.

the things that really worked for me was:

    1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

    2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

    3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

    4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

It worked and still works for me!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry TrichoZed but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here

    http://www.trichozed.info/ingredients.ph

(TrichoZed鈩?will produce noticeable hair growth in 30 to 45 days. A consistent use of TrichoZed鈩?ensures permanent results within 6 months. Further use shall maintain optimal health of your hair.)

    and here

    http://www.provillus.com/?aid=221781

(Provillus鈩?will produce noticeable hair growth in 40. A consistent use of TrichoZed鈩?ensures permanent results within ~5 months.)

It enhances hair growth by blocking DHT (Dihydrotestostrone) - a major cause of hair loss!

not only my own personal experience + working as a family physicianHair loss and thinning please help?
Alopecia areata (AA) is a condition affecting humans, in which hair is lost from some or all areas of the body, usually from the scalp.[1][2]. Because it causes bald spots on the scalp, especially in the first stages, it is sometimes called spot baldness. In 1%% of cases, the condition can spread to the entire scalp (Alopecia totalis) or to the entire epidermis (Alopecia universalis).

About 50% of patients' hair will regrow in one year without any treatment.[2] If the affected region is small, it is reasonable to observe the progression of the illness as the problem often spontaneously regresses and the hair grows back. In 90% of cases, the hair will, ultimately, grow back. In the other 10%, only some or no hair will regrow.[citation needed]

In cases where there is severe hair loss, there has been limited success treating alopecia areata with clobetasol or fluocinonide, steroid injections, or cream. Steroid injections are commonly used in sites where there are small areas of hair loss on the head or especially where eyebrow hair has been lost. Some other medications used are minoxidil, irritants (anthralin or topical coal tar), and topical immunotherapy cyclosporine, each of which are sometimes used in different combinations.

Hair Falling out!! Thinning & Hair Loss?

im 18 years old %26amp; ive dyed my hair atleast 75 times in the last 3 years. I no longer dye it and ive been taking biotin* hair pills.. and its helping a little, but my hair is stil soo thin!!! Anybody know of good treatments???Hair Falling out!! Thinning %26amp; Hair Loss?
Hi, I actually read this really good article about nutrition tips for hair, you'll find more useful information there I'm sure:

stop dyding your hair and go to a hair drasser.
    doctor.
Steps You can take to avoid hair loss:-

Wash your hair regularly in warm water and use a deep conditioner.

Eat a balanced diet. Nutritional deficiencies, eating disorders and excessive amounts of certain vitamins, such as A and E, can cause hair loss.

Take care of your health. Chronic illness, high fevers and infections can contribute to hair loss.

Stay away from harsh chemicals - permanent hair color and perms are the most damaging - and avoid coloring your hair more than once every six to eight weeks.

Avoid hairstyles like ponytails and cornrows, which stretch and pull hair.

Keep in mind that it's normal to lose between 50 and 100 hairs a day.

Consult your general physician or dermatologist regarding concerns about hair loss.

hi maybe your diet is not good enough for your hair to grow well so eat better.
Good healthy hair starts with good internal health. Have you ever noticed people that look really healthy have nice shiny full heads of hair? If I were you I would go into your local guru in wholistic medicine and see what natural supplement the can offer for robust hair growth. I鈥檝e had success with a product called Provillus also.
Badly damaged hair breaks at the scalp. To treat hair loss apply a little lemon juice with some black tea. Massage well and shampoo.Rub oil into the scalp. Wring out a towel in hot water and wrap it on the head. Keep it on for 15 minutes. Shampoo and dry well. Check out http://usefulinfo-hairloss.blogspot.com/ for more info.
    if possible eat amla..

DO you think wearing a cap causes the thinning of hair or hair loss ?

yes, yes, and yesDO you think wearing a cap causes the thinning of hair or hair loss ?
Absolutely not - it is all hereditary.DO you think wearing a cap causes the thinning of hair or hair loss ?
yup it is and but it also runs in the family gene as well.
no!, the doc told me the only way to loose hair from a hat is that it would have to be soooo tight that it would hurt you to wear it, because it would have to cut off you blood supply! hair lose is caused by the hormone DHT!! when testostron dies it becomes DHT and it finds its way to the hair follicle and connects to it like lock and key! it will cut off blood supply to the root and the hair follicle will slowly get thinner and thinner until it dies! they why propcia is used to fight baldness by blocking the DHT from connecting to the hair follicle!
Absolutely not. Hair loss is controlled by hormones and this is a hereditary thing. Look at the older men in you family, particular your mothers side for a look into the future.
    No...another myth busted.
There are a couple of things that cause hair loss, the main cause of hair loss comes from DHT a hormone that is hereditary. Many solutions like Propecia and Rogain help maintain your hair and even give a little growth back. The others factors of hair loss include stress and a poor diet. Wearing a hat will pull out hairs if worn too tightly. This does not mean that they will grow back.
I have read some articles on this and the authorities, whoever they are, claim that wearing a cap does not effect hair loss. From my personal experience, I believe it does.

    Tachycardia,Hair thinning/loss,fatigue,brain fog?

Let me start off by saying this. When I was 15 years old, I was playing basketball with my friend in my front yard. All of a sudden my heart start fluttering very badly. I had a very weird sensation in my heart and it would be beating really fast and fluttering and then slow down, then return. I had no choice but to have my parents call 911. These attacks kept happening at the hospital and the doctors didn't know what to do for me. They ended up saying my potassium was low and found nothing wrong with my heart. For about 2 weeks after that experience, I had a very weak feeling in my heart (lower atrium area). The doctors didn't know what I meant by a ';weak'; feeling in my heart and I didn't know what else to say. I went on to have a couple more attacks, but the doctors could do nothing.

I have since been worried about my hearts condition. I recently got a EKG done and my PD said the results were fine. The reason I had another test done is I have been having some frightening symptoms lately. The main reason I went to my PD was because of brain fog, but here are some of the things I've been experiencing.

    Symptoms

-Hair Loss/Thinning (Idk wether the loss is from me pulling on my hair or when stressed or its falling out, but its definetaly thinning)

-Every cut (even little scratches) I've gotten for the last couple months on have stayed. They will heal but it doesn't seem like all the way. They all leave scars no matter how small the cut or scrape was.

    -Severe Fatigue throughout the day

-My heart beat irregular alot of the times. I actually thought I had POTS syndrome, because every time I stand my heart beat will shoot up to prolly 120 bpm. Alot of the time though it is always beating fast.

-Chronic brain fog for the last year or so. Could be due to anxiety or depression, but think it may very well me related to all these other things that are going on.

-Lips are losing color. (Lips appear to be turning yellow on top and appear almost purple like everywhere else)

BTW I'm only 19 years old, and really hope I don't have heart problems. I do suffer from anxiety and depression. I don't see how the heart problem that occured when I was 15 could have been a panic attack. I was just playing basketball and then BOOM.

I've been thinking of some possible causes, I would love input...

    -Anemia

-Was 100% convinced I was diabetic, but doctor told me otherwise through testing

    -POTS (Postural Orthastatic Tachycardia Syndrome)

    -Adrenal Insufficiency

    -Vitamin deficiency

    -CFSTachycardia,Hair thinning/loss,fatigue,brain fog?
I highly doubt that you have heart problems since those symptoms can come from a lot of different sources. I second the suggestion to have your thyroid tested. I was going to suggest you be tested for diabetes as well, but I see that your doctor has already gone that route.

As much as it pains me to say it, I would have to agree that it sounds a lot like CFS. I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome at 17 and then with Fibromyalgia at 20, and I would hardly believe the symptoms I have if I wasn't experiencing them myself. I would have to say that most days I experience a lot of the symptoms you describe.

Most of the time as a teenager I would be so fatigued that every part of my body felt week, even things like my heart and lungs. I never really passed out or anything, but I would start feeling faint and usually lightheaded or dizzy. I could get the feeling to subside by resting, but usually could not get it to go away completely without several days (or weeks) rest.

For your sake I really hope that it's something else, maybe a combination of the above. Anemia can cause a lot of diabetic-like symptoms as well, so have your doctor do a full blood panel. The lip discoloration really makes me think there is some form of deficiency.

Also, you could still be having problems with your blood sugar even if your test showed up fine while you were at the doctor. Sometimes insulin levels spike or drop rapidly, so you might want to invest in one of those pocket blood sugar monitors to try testing it when you get a sudden onset of symptoms.

Another thing I will add about hypothyroidism is that it is very difficult to get a diagnosis with the standard THS testing that is typically used. Just keep trying and have your doctor do regular blood tests since the content of your blood can fluctuate, sometimes caused simply by what you eat. Good luck, and try not to get too worried about it.Tachycardia,Hair thinning/loss,fatigue,brain fog?
Get a Thyroid test and a full blood count and chemistry panel.

Adrenal insufficiency makes potassium high by the way but could still be the case.
    Well I am not sure about the weak FEELING in your heart but the constant brain fog and fatigue sounds like sleep apnea. Do you snore? Do you feel tired even after 8-10 hours of sleeping? Do you ever wake up gasping for air/choking? Do you have difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep? Take the quick sleepiness test at this link;

    http://www.stanford.edu/~dement/epworth.

Have you ever had a PFT (PULMONARY FUNCTION TEST) or any type of breathing test?

Try checking out this link- a lot of your symptoms sound like pulmonary embolism- I doubt it at your age but check it out-

Hope you find out soon what is going on- and I think I would find a new DR. who listens better to you!

Hair thinning, loss and breakage! helpppppp!?

Okay.. so i'm only 17. i've done my share of damage to my hair since i was about 14, straightening, bleaching and everything you could think of. but just recently ive found that my hair is getting SO thin and i always used to have the thickest hair that i would constantly have to get layered and thinned because it was actually unmanageable and still ended up being too thick. my hair has come down to pretty much nothing. i run a brush through it and have a big glob of hair and i find strands of hair in random places everywhere i go. ive stopped getting high lights and the heat but its still getting worse by the day. Please help i honestly have no idea. Ive also lost a lot of weight (38 lbs) in a short amount of time and i read somewhere that could cause possible hair loss too? suggestions pleaseeee :-) thanksHair thinning, loss and breakage! helpppppp!?
Try drinking this - blend bananas with honey, yoghurt %26amp; low-fat milk. A drink rich in biotin can help keep your crowning glory firmly rooted.

Take dietary supplements such as Vitamin B6, zinc %26amp; saw palmetto. Supplements are useful when you can't get enough from natural food sources.

Invert your head while you shampoo %26amp; massage your scalp. This helps promote blood circulation to the head.

Eliminate stress or else it can be disastrous to your precious hair!

    Get enough sleep

and try to stay away from heat, if you do decide to flat iron your hair, use good effect heat protected products such as GHDHair thinning, loss and breakage! helpppppp!?
Ok Ms.17 I think I have the answer for you, my mother was going through something called white matters disease and because of the hormonal changes she was going through, her hair started to fall out. The doctor put her on some steroids and that only made the problem worse, because of the stress and weight loss, her hair became really thin and patchy. Now I know you don't have white matters disease, but any hormonal change, stress, or diet can cause hair loss, even pregnancy in some women. You're probably having what is called a mechanical stressor to the scalp, this is caused by tight braids, curlers, and even some hats and scarfs that are worn to tight. There's even a medical condition called Alopecia and it is a type of scarring of the scalp that prevents the hair from growing. My mom ( Janie) tried a couple of things like Propecia and QikGrow but they didn't work to well but she did grow her hair back when she used Provillus, this is a true story and I don't know your situation but it worked for her. Since you're 17 I don't know if it's what you're looking for but I had to tell you this story, if only to give you some information about hair loss. Take Care!!!
    eat more.

    get a weave

or just get some shampoo that's made to replenish your hair.

don't brush it so much.wear it up or in braids so it's less likely to break off while you let it grow out for a while
Been there so know how you feel. Don't despair! First, loosing weight quickly WILL affect your hair (and skin). You need a well balanced diet and possibly a multivitamin supplement.

Secondly you may be anaemic and need a folic acid supplement, but you would need to visit a doctor to determine this. If your nails are thin and concave, this is also a sign of anaemia.

Thirdly, treat your hair very gently for a while. Get a good hair-cut, then use a shampoo and conditioner specifically for damaged hair. Treatments for using in-between shampooing and conditioning will help too. Try L'Oreal, Pantene or Lee Stafford brands, theyr'e all good and reasonably priced. Hope this all helps!

    Hair thinning/loss question?

I have been experiencing thinning for a few years now. I used to use Nioxin, but after a while I developed seboric dermatitis and experienced extremely dry scalp and flaking. Then I switched to Arbonne shampoo and scalp treatment. It seems to be better but is so expensive. I have noticed that if I comb out all the bumps on my scalp once a week that I do not get the scaley scalp associated with seborric dermatitis. I have also been using Selsum Blue. Does anyone have any suggestions to my problem. I do not want to waste any more money on this. I have tried a bunch of alternative methods such as apple cider vinegar with no luck. ThanksHair thinning/loss question?

For hair loss you can try this remedy. Mix 1 egg, 2.5 tablespoons milk powder and 1 tablespoon wheat germ oil. Massage on the scalp and leave it for 30 minutes. Wash with a mild shampoo.

    Rogaine, babee!!!
Same here...You need to find out why it is thinning first! Taking Garlic tablets - for the sulphur- as well as having plenty of B vitamins, Vitamin C, Zinc and Magnesium. Make sure that your scalp is not too oily - Sebum build up can kill Hair follicles - sounds nasty, but if you hair is really oily, wash it with dishwashing liquid every other day. You may want to have your hormones checked at your OB..That can make your hair fall out quickly. Don't Smoke!
    read this:

Do this for a month, and you will be amazed by the change in your hair texture and the reduction in hair fall.

What can I eat to prevent premature greying?

Eating seafood is possibly one of the best things you can eat to promote all-over hair health. It is rich in zinc, iodine and protein, which are excellent for the hair. So if you enjoy seafood, make it a point to have fish several times a week. Remember that eating canned fish will not give you the same benefits as eating freshly cooked fish. If you don?t eat fish, consider fish-oil supplements.

Iron is good for hair and is found in dark green vegetables, meat and some pulses. If you are unsure about whether you are getting enough iron, include an iron supplement every once in a while in your diet. Remember that too many iron supplements can be bad for you. Women lose iron while menstruating, so perhaps during or after your cycle you can have iron-fortified supplements for a few days.

Eating foods rich in Vitamins B and C will ensure that your hair stays strong, does not break easily, and does not grey early. Pork, vegetables, whole grains, wheat germ, soymilk are all rich sources of Vitamin B, while citrus fruits are excellent sources of Vitamin C. Eating adequate Vitamin C helps increase absorption of iron. Try and have a glass of orange juice daily.

Your hair will never be healthy if you do not drink enough water. Drink at least eight to ten glasses a day.

What oil can I apply to my hair?

Rosemary oil is believed to gradually darken grey hair over a period of time. Soak rosemary leaves along with a few basil (tulsi) leaves, in jojoba oil, for a period of four weeks. Massage your scalp and hair with this oil (after warming it up).

Most oils are not easily absorbed by the hair, which is why you need to leave oil on for at least forty-five minutes. It helps greatly if you steam your hair after applying oil.

Boil dried amla pieces in coconut oil until the pieces turn black and the oil darkens. Apply this oil to the hair. It strengthens hair and prevents greying.

Boil tealeaves in water and rinse your hair with this liquid 20-30 times. Then, leave on for 15-20 minutes before the final rinse.

What else can I do to promote hair health and delay greying?

Washing your hair with very hot water or using hair-dryers excessively weaken roots, and may lead to premature greying. When using a hair-dryer, take care not to point it to your scalp. Similarly, try and wash your hair with cool or lukewarm water.

    Will Yoga help?

Inverted yoga poses bring a rush of blood to the scalp. This stimulates circulation and enhances hair health. Do the following poses regularly:

Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward Facing Dog)

    Sarvangasana

    Chakrasana

Other easy ways to stimulate circulation are:

When you wash your hair, keep switching from hot water to cold water.

Comb your hair regularly. A hundred strokes every night should do the trick. If your hair is curly, use a wide toothed comb
