My daughter is having hair loss problems!?

my daughter is currently 13 yrs old. she always complains that whenever she washed her hair, over 20 strands of hair comes out. i have too noticed that the front of her hair line is showing some scalp. what to do?

btw, she has a no lye perm in her hair....My daughter is having hair loss problems!?
Most people loose about 100 hairs everyday anyway. Has she always had thin hair or is this something new? If it is something new she may need to see the doctor for thyroid check as long as her diet is suffecient. My daughter is having hair loss problems!?
I just read about this, I have the same problem at a much older age...A lack of vitamin A could be a culprit.

Hopefully it is nothing more serious. I know by my own experience that hormone fluctuations can also cause excessive hair loss.
She may have a thyroid problem, I do, and my hair started to come out really bad. Now, I take medicine and it's just fine.
try switching shampoo/conditioner or any hair care products she uses if that doesn't work take her to the doctor
it could be stress or just baby hair is growing out, but if you are worried take her to the doctor
If it is just hair breakage and not from the scalp, then it is possible that her relaxer was laid incorrectly, or the shampoo that she is using is too harsh. Go to a licensed beautician that specializes in ';healthy'; African-American hair and ask them how it can be corrected. Her hair just may need special TLC by a professional to get it back on track. (If you decide on a beautician, please ask them what products are needed and how to maintain her hair).

If her hair is coming out at the root, then you need to take her to a dermatologist. Namely one that has experience with patients who are prone to wear a ';no lye relaxer';. (Namely one who has experience with African-American hair).

Also, at your daughter's age, it is highly unlikely that she knows the proper way to care for her hair. Once her condition is diagnosed and treated, perhaps you can help her out with the washing, conditioning and other stuff that goes along with maintaining her hair.
check it out here.
people loose about 100 strands per day so 20 is nothing to worry about. But if she has a prem she could be having a reaction, also there is a type of skin cancer that is most common in young women and girls and causes hair loss BEFORE chemotherapy is even started so i would make a dr. appointment soon.
You might have her checked for excema or some sort of dermatitis.

She is also starting the journey through that awful time when her hormones are going crazy as she makes her way to womanhood. The hormone fluctuations could also be the reason.

I'd just get her checked out to make sure there is no endocronological reason for it.
its that no lye perm .... dont use it
She could have a health problem, I was having a lot of hair loss and I was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism. One of the symptoms is hair loss.
2 much chemicals overtime will do that. also, it is prolly genetics. many ppl dont noe it but hairloss comes early often because of genetics. try looking for special oils adn shampoos. more than that...c a specialist.
you should take her to her doctor and ask him if she is allergic to anything in her shampoo or something.
take her to your family physician, or see if their is some one who knows something on yahoo, question. and you are one step ahead of me.
It could be genetics, or a stress problem. I would see your doctor. Remember everyone loses an average of 100 strands of hair a day.
Buy a small rubber shower hair trap, that is designed to see how much hair is coming out. Use it every time you shampoo to see if things are improving. Try REGENETRESSE Intensive Treatment which is a shampoo and hair treatment designed to improve scalp circulation and stop hair loss. This can be bought at any drug store.

Check her thyroid levels with a doctor, as thinning hair can be a sign of a thyroid problem. One pill a day will fix it.
is she pulling her hair do you know? It is normal to loose at least 100 strands a day. Have your hair stylist look at her hair and scalp if there is a problem they are trained so they would refer you to a dermatologist. good luck
Consult your doctor immediately.

or try a healthy diet.
